On a bend in the river, at the foot of Wawel Hill, giant, shoulder-high dragons dance to the rhythm of music, all accompanied by a spectacular pyrotechnic and laser show. The best places to watch are on the Vistula Boulevards (Czerwieńskie and Inflanckie), but it is worth coming much earlier to get a good position.
On Sunday, however, the streets of the Old Town will be lined with the Dragon Parade - a colourful procession of over a thousand children from all over Poland, who march with their own hand-made dragons. The procession ends at the Main Square, where a competition for the most beautiful dragon takes place. This event is absolutely free and open to all. For the tourist, it is a unique opportunity to see the Krakow legend of the Wawel Dragon come to life in an extremely creative and joyful way, bringing the whole city together.

34th Jewish Culture Festival (25-29 June 2025)
At the end of June, the heart of Krakow starts to beat in Kazimierz, thanks to the Jewish Culture Festival - one of the largest and most important events of its kind in the world. This is not a festival about the past, but a vibrant celebration of contemporary Jewish culture in all its diversity.
For a few days, the former Jewish quarter becomes a global stage for musicians, artists, lecturers and workshops from Israel, the USA and the entire Diaspora.
The programme is extremely rich:

Lajkonik parade (26 June 2025)

SEE →On the first Thursday after the Feast of Corpus Christi, one of its most exotic and colourful characters takes to the streets of Krakow - the Lajkonik, also known as the Zwierzyniec Horse. This traditional procession, whose roots go back to the 18th century, is a living part of the intangible heritage of the city, listed on the national UNESCO list.
Legend has it that it is a souvenir of the victory of the Krakow raftsmen (vagabonds) over the Tartars. The procession starts at noon in the courtyard of the Norbertine convent in Zwierzyniec. From there, the colourful procession, headed by a bearded rider on an artificial horse, proceeds through the streets towards the Market Square to the music of the Mlaskot band.
The Lajkonik visits local shops and offices, collecting 'tribute', and a blow with his mace is supposed to bring good luck for the whole year. The finale takes place in the evening in the Market Square, where the mayor presents the Lajkonik with a symbolic tribute.
For the tourist, it's a fascinating spectacle and a chance to touch a genuine Krakow tradition that has been cultivated for centuries. Follow the retinue, be struck by the mace and feel the pulse of authentic folklore in the heart of the great city.
